Artist's Comments

Named after The Abhorsen in Garth Nix's Sabriel, this is my old baby. The contrast between the old design (seen above) and the new design (shown here: [link]) for these guys is very interesting.

This guy is from 1998 and ~ian291's dragon, Phalanx, is from 2005.

The company that has these guys up for adoption can be found here: [link]

I have several Woodbabies and I love them. I was able to go to their workshop in Ocala, Florida a few years back when I bought my dragon, Quidam. Whenever I go to the Renaissance Faire, I always make a point at stopping by and maybe picking up another!

I have five (I think :hmm:)!
This is my baby though. I got him way back when in '98 or earlier. I also took this pic before he had to go in for surgery (someone dropped him down the stairs and broke his leg). While he was there Bob had him repainted and re-furred. I think he had too much bedrest cause now he's kinda fat >.<

I have four all together, but I'm always questing for more. I've two dragon hatchlings, one in an egg and the other the laying down one, a large dragon and a baby gryphon for the shoulder.

I got Quidam when I went to Florida for a vacation. I saw a gorgeously macabre black dragon displayed earlier that year at the local Ren Faire and I just so happened to have the phone number with me. On our way back from Disney to our condo in Madeira Beach, we stopped by to pick him up. It took us about four hours to get there which is the time they needed. He's not the dream Woodbaby as I had hoped, but he's very special. I was excited that I got to have a tour and the first catalogue prototype, all signed. Even the puppies they had got their names in it!

Next time my camera is charged, I'll take pictures of Quidam and the others. Midsummer Knight's Dream needs more advertisement. They are amazingly durable. Quidam has survived an attack with a Golden Retriever, multiple falls and a plane ride back to Chicago.

Sounds like a great adventure!
I can't wait to see your Quidam!

I have Abhorsen my large dragon.
Faithful my Jhari's cat.
Kelpie my horse.
and Logan my baby gryphon.

I guess I only have four as well >.< But Abhorsen will always be my baby!

I should have time tomorrow (Wednesday the 8th) to take a few snapshots of them.

The first Woodbaby I bought was the egg hatchling and I named her Guinevre.
StarShade is the other hatchling.
Naturally Quidam my large dragon and finally Ariadne, my baby gryphon.

Needless to say you're a fan of the Garth Nix books? The "Abhorsen Trilogy"? I love them even though I read the hard core fantasy novels! Sara Douglass and Terry Brooks for the win!
